Mens health week brings some focus on eye health.

Thanks to Men’s Health Week, taking place from June 10-16, men have a great reminder to think about the issues that could impact their health and their lives, including their eye health such as glaucoma that can be easily prevented wearing polarized lenses.

President Clinton signed the bill creating Men’s Health Week on May 31, 1994 and most US States have recognized this attempt to increase men’s health awareness.

Time spent outdoors means time exposed to UV, and that can mean eye damage.  This is particularly true if one is wearing cheap or knock off sunglasses, which will not protect one’s eyes like high quality polarized lenses.  What are polarized sunglasses?  Polarized lenses have been embraced by manufacturers such as Arnette, Oakley, Ray-Ban famous for their Wayfarer sunglasses and others.  These lenses reduce glare and provide exceptional clarity and vision.

The Sunglass Fix can help you protect your vision by offering sunglass lenses replacement anywhere in the world.  You’ll save time and money while enjoying high quality lenses that will protect your vision.  So common guys, remember to take the best possible care of your eyes.  After all, you only get 2 of them!

At one time, a spa was thought of as being something of a retreat designed for some serious relaxation.  But today, the term spa applies to many different treatments in locations ranging from far away exotic locations to your local mall.  Spas have lots of ways to protect and repair your skin, but did you know by wearing sunglasses with polarized lenses can help reduce wrinkles?

That's right, by avoiding the sun at peak hours, wearing a hat, eating more antioxidant rich foods and selecting the right sunglass lenses are all great steps in the right direction.  Larger sunglasses frames, such as Wayfarer and Cat Eye sunglasses, will protect more of the area around your eyes and protect the sun damaging the soft skin around the eyes that can lead to wrinkles later on.

Also sunglasses from top manufacturers, such as D&G and Prada, will provide optimal UV protection.  Those looking for enhanced vision will love what polarized sunglasses can do for them.  What are polarized sunglasses?  They are specifically designed to filter out glare and that means sharper, crisper vision and calm, soft eyes free of wrinkles.

The Sunglass Fix specializes in providing you with polarized sunglass lens replacement wherever you live anywhere in the world.  Shipping is always free.

Our goal is to save you money and time and let you keep your favorite sunglasses and lovely soft, wrinkle free eyes!

in General News

With all the sports and outdoor activity about to launch upon us with Spring blooming it's important to pause for a moment to reflect on just how important our vision is to our well being.  Most sport’s related eye and vision injuries are preventable. By opting for the right kind of protective eyewear, it is possible to reduce one’s risk of injury.  It is extremely important for children to have protective eyewear no matter what sport they are playing.

Sunglass lenses can definitely play a role in helping to protect eyesight.  Sunglasses lenses from the top quality manufacturers, such as Oakley, Revo, Prada and Arnette, use such high tech lenses as polycarbonate sunglass lenses and polarized lenses.  Polycarbonate lenses are important as they are highly durable and absorb impact.  Ray-Ban primarily use glass lenses so they aren't as safe to use for sporting activities. Polarized lenses are also highly useful as they filter out harsh light.  Once harsh light and glare is filtered out, it is possible to get a better view of the action and this, of course, means enhanced reaction time.

Keeping your sport’s glasses ready and on hand is critical in protecting your eye health.  If your sunglass lenses become damaged for any reason, you don’t have to replace them.  Instead, you can turn to The Sunglass Fix and we can ship you high-quality replacement lenses anywhere in the world, ready for action.

in Sunglass Brands

When it comes to buying sunglasses, the only real way to go is to choose designer sunglasses.  Here is why: designer sunglasses don’t use low quality plastic and other materials and the lenses are designed to international standards that provide optimal protection for eyes.  Cheap eyewear doesn’t care about giving you superior optics and can actually damage your eyes without the proper UV protection. Quality eyewear means opting for designer eyewear.

Inexpensive sunglasses won’t give you great quality sunglass lenses.  Polarized lenses are worth spending extra money to get.  What are polarized sunglasses?  Polarized lenses are remarkably effective at cutting down on glare and bright light and gives superior eye comfort when outdoors.  This, of course,  makes them an absolute must have when you need to have excellent vision.

We specialize in providing you with quick yet high quality sunglass lenses replacements, including polarized lenses.  These lenses can be shipped for free anywhere in the world, meaning that the next time you damage your sunglass lenses you don’t have to buy new and expensive designer sunglasses. Instead you can turn to us and save money, trouble and a good deal of time!

in General News

The first few years of life are critically important for the long term health of any child. This applies to your child’s vision as well!

Cheap fashion sunglasses that may be cute or trendy are bad news for any pair of eyes, but they can be particularly dangerous for young ones.  This is why you should select sunglasses and sunglasses lenses that are high-quality.  Experts have found that sunglasses do more than protect developing eyes from damage that can later lead to cataracts and macular degeneration.  Sunglasses and sunglass lenses can help protect the delicate areas around the eyes and this means a reduction in skin cancer risk.

Top manufacturers such as Arnette, Ray-Ban, Smith and Oakley all have very stylish sunglass options for children that provide sunglass lenses which protect against UV rays.  There are also many specialist childrens sunglass brands that can be found with a quick internet search.

Spending money on children's sunglasses can seem over the top but you can also protect your investment in sunglasses if they become scratched or damaged by having us replace your lenses.  This can save you big both in terms of time and money making them a very worthy investment. You can also easily heat the arms of your child's sunglasses in some very hot water (not boiling) to make them soft and pliable so you can make them fit a growing childs head.

Polarized lenses make great sense no matter where you are, but for some locations, polarized sunglasses couldn’t be a smarter or more necessary pick.  Really bright and intense sunny locations such as Australia, Africa and the Middle East where the UV rating is seriously high.

Recently, Prince Charles made a trip to the sunny nation of Oman, showing off his style in some Wayfarer looking sunglasses. The Ray-Ban Wayfarer has been famous since the 1930s, but other manufacturers have their own Wayfarer inspired looks as well, such as Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Arnette, Gucci and many others.  Why?  Wayfarers don’t just look very cool; the large frames also provide a good deal of eye protection.  Combining polarized lenses with the large Wayfarer frame makes for an excellent and very effective duo.

Remember if you ever damage your Wayfarer sunglasses or any other sunglass lenses, we can send out a new set of lenses to make sure that you get them quickly and back in style ASAP!  You’ll save money and a great deal of time, and that will certainly help make your day a sunnier one.

We love The Oscars for a lot of reasons.  At the top of the list is the fact that there just isn’t anything else like it in the world.  With all the excitement and anticipation we'll admit that we love looking at what kind of sunglasses are being worn to see how the latest trends are being worn on center stage.

The standouts for this year were dark sunglass lenses and polarized lenses.  What are polarized sunglasses?  Polarized sunglass lenses offer wearers a great deal of functionality and they just look cool as well.  Polarized lenses are a wonder of optics that effectively cut the glare down to a minimum, which can be really handy for a range of activities, including walking down the runway!

Even though we can't all walk down the runway, we can wear designer sunglasses to at least imitate the stars! And don't forget, here at The Sunglass Fix we can ship replacement lenses for your designer sunglasses to you absolutely anywhere in the world, for free.  This way you can get those designer looking sunglasses back in action and save money at the same time, all while looking like a star.....

Shaun White just won the Winter X Games once again, what a legend he is turning out to be, while wearing Oakley Holbrook sunglasses.

This model comes in three colors and each are distinctive looking and are best worn with polarized lenses.  You may already own a pair of Oakley's or Arnette's, but we would really recommend these well made, reliable and versatile sunglasses.  What we love the most about them is that they work great on the slopes, but you can also wear them anywhere else of course like the beaches of LA or Florida.

These polarized lenses let you see all the action with perfect clarity which, of course, means they are great for everything from driving to golfing to simply strolling down the street.  Remember The Sunglass Fix is here to replace your lenses if they ever become damaged, and we can ship your new polarized lenses to wherever you may be in the world for free.

Every single Super Bowl is intense, but this one definitely has the makings of being more intense than normal.  Why will this Super Bowl be so intense?  The two head coaches, Jim and John, also share the same last name, in the form of Harbaugh.  That’s right they are brothers.  As you can imagine, no matter how this game turns out, family gatherings will never the same again, period!

Everybody will want to have the best view of the action possible for this game.  You will need the best quality sunglass lenses that money can buy for this game.  After all, you never want to miss this kind of action!  Whether players and attendees opt for Arnette, Oakley, Ray-Ban or another brand, you can be sure that they will be wearing the best sunglasses lenses out there.

What I find most fascinating about this game is that you know these two coaches are going to give it everything that they have.  It is one thing, after all, to lose the Super Bowl. It's quite another to lose it to your brother.  While most of us wish we could have the opportunity to coach a team in the Super Bowl, for the loser this year, things could still be a little rough!

Well, one thing that is not rough is how much money you can save buying new lenses from us.  We can send you out new sunglass lenses anywhere in the world and you can repair your sunglasses yourself.  You might not make a big save at the Super Bowl, but you can save some big money on sunglass lenses.

2013 could be a very interesting year for sunglasses with brands ranging from Arnette to Jason Wu conjuring up some unexpected twists.  Manufacturers have really went out of their way to create some innovative and clever looks that should have people talking, and maybe even talking a little more than normal!

Big and Futuristic Options

This year some of the biggest sunglass manufacturers have added a twist to the usual and time tested favorites like Wayfarer.  Large frames and frames with a decided futuristic edge have made the cut and are now available.  Fashion icons, such as Prada, Versace and Fendi, have some really big and bold designs this year that feature lots of interesting angles and vivid colors.  Clearly, it is going to be a pretty innovative year for the industry and it could mark a real turning point.

Mirrored and Cat Eye Options

If you’ve read my other postings you know that I am a big fan of polarized lenses as they offer a great many advantages, such as boosting clarity of vision.  I also like mirrored lenses a lot and the good news is that they could become quite popular this year.  We've even added a blue mirrored lens that our customers were asking about. Check it out on our Lens Selection page. And if you are a cat lover, then this is your year!  Large cat eye shaped polarized sunglasses from  manufacturers like Jason Wu and Rachel Roy are quite exciting!

This year is all about everything “big” and “interesting.”  But that doesn’t mean that you have to pay big bucks if you damage your sunglasses, as that is never “interesting.”  Instead we can send you new lenses anywhere in the world for a fraction of the cost.  You’ll save time and money!  So no matter whether you damage an old pair of Mui Mui Prada sunglases or fancy Jason Wu shades, we have you covered.

The Best Sports Sunglasses for Skiing

in General News

It is wintertime, and I am thrilled because I love hitting the slopes for some skiing.  But I am always amazed how many skiers lack good sports sunglasses.  In fact, often I see people wearing no sunglasses at all!  This is amazing, since most ski resorts have a sunglasses store right on the premises.  You would think that would key them in on the fact that wearing sports sunglasses is part of the whole skiing experience and the glare from the snow is seriously damaging to the eyes.

So, ok, fellow skiers, here is what you want to keep in mind...

-First, don't skip durability.  This usually means a good pair of polycarbonate lenses for your sports sunglasses. Nothing ruins a skiing trip faster than having your sunglasses break and explode into a million tiny fragments. Crashing with glass lenses, like in Ray-Ban's, would be a big no-no.

-Also don't forget that as you increase in altitude, the issue of UV exposure increases too!  So you will need polarized sunglasses with at least 95% UV protection.  Polarized sunglasses are also great for reducing glare off of the snow.

-Get sports sunglasses with good peripheral vision. No matter how great of a skier you may be, you want to see those idiots flying by you who may not be looking where they are going!

So keep it safe this skiing season.  You can start with a visit to the sunglasses store.  And don't forget, if your lenses do get damaged, you can hop right over to our site for a quick pair of replacements!

I am a big fan of all types of sunglasses and sunglasses optics.  However, when I learned about some of these new eco-friendly options out there, I was really amazed.

First of all, I love bamboo! This wood not only looks sleek and sophisticated, it is sustainable and green as well.  You can now find bamboo options and they come with the same level of quality and polarized lenses.

I also freaked out when I learned about the recycled goods that are being made into sunglasses.  These materials go way beyond plastic and include everything from recycled beer bottles to whiskey containers.  And the sunglasses optics are first rate as well.  One of my favorites sunglasses USA companies is the Diamond Supply Co, which makes their sunglasses out of recycled skateboards!  Juicy Couture is even out there making eyewear out of plant-based plastics.

More and more people want eco-friendly sunglasses, but they also expect to have top-notch polarized lenses and sunglasses optics.  This new breed of company delivers!

Of course, if you really want to be eco-friendly, don't throw your sunglasses away if the lenses become scratched or damaged.  Otherwise, they will just live out the rest of their days in a landfill somewhere!  Instead, pop over to our shop and simply order some new polarized lenses.  We have you and your needs covered.  We'll help reduce your carbon footprint and make us all happy :)

When we at The Sunglass Fix are not busy running our online sunglasses lens and repair establishment, we do love to get out and appreciate all that nature has to offer.  There are some amazing spots around the world where you can see all of nature’s glory in the form of fall colors.

One of the best places on earth to see the leaves change colors is New England.  Have you ever been to Massachusetts?  Whether you are in Cape Cod or The Berkshires, this state delivers the amazing colors.  And you can do more than just drive around.  It is possible to enjoy everything from biking and hiking to canoeing.

Another recommendation is to go up to New Hampshire and Vermont, while you are in the “neighborhood.”  These states are full of scenery and also great fall festivals.  Of course, it goes without saying not to forget your eyewear.  Be sure to pop a pair of polarized sunglasses into your travel bag.

If anything happens to your lenses, you won’t have to start hunting for online sunglasses retailers or a sunglass store during your travels.  Simply order a new pair at The Sunglass Fix and we will mail them out to you right away.  That way you can get back to doing what you do best… enjoying yourself!

If you have logged into Ray Ban's online sunglasses website lately, you have likely seen their cool campaign commemorating their 75th anniversary.  You can see exclusive footage of Slash (wearing polarized sunglasses, of course).  The company also is allowing customers to post their unique stories and pictures.  It is fun to take a minute and search through this section.

When you pick up a pair of Ray Bans at the sunglasses store, you might forget exactly how much of a role this company has played in your own life.  Their polarized sunglasses have appeared in many of the best films ever made including Breakfast at Tiffany's, Risky Business and The Blues Brothers

Some of the most famous actors, musicians and even politicians have worn this iconic brand.  If they are good enough for James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and Bob Dylan, it's no wonder they are our most popular sunglasses to install new lenses, they're iconic and last for a long time.

We're definitely an online store that caters to Ray Ban customers.  If your lenses become scratched or damaged, just pop onto our online sunglasses site and order a new pair in a jiffy.  We will send out a new pair of Ray Ban lenses with totally free shipping.  So if you have a damaged pair in your drawer, what better way to commemorate Ray Ban's 75th anniversary than to get your polarized sunglasses back into action?

Ty Schmidt - 18th November 2012 [Facebook Post @ The Sunglass Fix Facebook site]

"Just received my replacement Ray-Ban lenses today! They look exactly the same as the originals and were easy to install. Thanks!"

We love these monster sized Foam Sunglasses that were part of the art installations at this years FYF Fest in downtown Los Angeles that came alive with a some edgy underground musicians in today’s music scene ranging in musical genres from punk rock to new-age funk. Aaron Hansen is showing sitting in front of these huge shades giving you an idea of the sheer size of them, a little hard to pop on your face!

Three of the four art pieces were a huge six-and-a-half feet tall, 15 ft .wide and 18 ft. long.  They were solid foam sunglasses, each with a different mural painted across the lenses.  The back of the sunglasses were covered in special chalk board paint.  Concert-goers used chalk to add to the design, a ceative way to get them invovled in the art work and help steer the mood of the concert.

As much as we love this art installation we're not sure we'll be able to install new lenses into these babies any time soon.......

What Happens if You Lose Your Lucky Sports Sunglasses During the Olympics?

As you might imagine, each time the Olympics roll around, outdoor athletes get out their best sports sunglasses.  An excellent pair of polarized sunglasses can make the difference between successfully representing one's country and failure.  Olympic athletes sometimes spend their entire lifetimes getting ready, and so success is imperative.  Anything that can give them the edge can mean the world to them.

This year, one British professional cyclist named Lizzie Armistead

was horrified when she accidentally lost her Oakley sports sunglasses.  Believe it or not, the police were contacted on her behalf.  They sent out a message on their Twitter feed begging onlookers to turn in her Oakleys if they happened to find them.  Part of the reason for all the drama is that these were Armistead's "lucky sunglasses."

If you have ever had a pair of lucky sunglasses, you can probably relate to how miserable you might be if they were lost.  Of course, if you contacted the police, they would be likely to laugh a bit and point you in the direction of the closest sunglasses store!

Our clients have been happy to learn that we can provide high-end aftermarket Oakley lenses for a very reasonable price.  While we may not be able to help you if you lose your glasses, if you accidentally scratch of damage the lenses, we can quickly send out some replacements.  This is a good way to allow your good luck to continue!

Each year's Tour de France is an exciting occasion, as this race brings out the best and brightest cyclists from around the world.  The 2012 race participants included people from around the world.  While Lance Armstrong is no longer racing, there were some very promising riders from the US this year including George Hincapie, Tejay van Garderen, Tom Danielson and Chris Horner.  In fact, people are already calling Tom Danielson the "next Lance Armstrong!"

But have you ever wondered why so many of the cyclists wear similar sports sunglasses?  (No, they do not all shop at the same sunglasses store!)  There is actually a simple reason behind these similarities and that is that the high-end sunglasses manufacturers clamour to sponsor Tour de France cycling teams and champions like Bradley Wiggins.  It's a top event in their calendar to get their latest sunglasses out in on show.

Bradley Wiggins Celebrating with Champagne and Oakley Holbrook Sunglasses!

Oakley and Rudy Project Polarized Sunglasses

Two companies whose names came up a lot during the Tour de France were Oakley and Rudy Project.  Unless you have been hiding in a cave, you all know and some of you already love Oakley.  Oakley spends countless dollars to stay on the cutting-edge of sunglasses technology.

Rudy Project specializes in sports sunglasses and markets itself to cyclists as well as fishermen, golfers, and those involved in motorsports.  Rudy works to offer special features that benefit cyclists like an ergonomic design and optimal ventilation.

Making Your Sports Sunglasses Last

When you invest in a pair of high-end polarized sunglasses for cycling or for any other reason, you want to ensure that you have made a long-term investment.  While Oakley and Rudy Project sunglasses are quite durable, you never know when you might scratch a lens, and we get plenty of customers who are upset that they damaged their lenses but really happy to find high-end aftermarket replacement lenses that don't cost a bomb.

Here's what a customer from Germany had to say:

"These lenses are way better than my original ones.. Thanks for your perfect and kind service and the superb quality.. My next order ( have another oakley ;-) ) will arrive soon. best regards from cloudy germany...Michael  Karlsruhe" GERMANY 15th May, 2012

What's all the fuss about polarized lenses?

Posted by Administrator

on Wednesday, 11 July 2012
in General News

Are you wondering what all the fuss is around wearing Polarized lenses? Are you constantly perturbed by excess sun glare? Do you suffer from lack of concentration while driving or fishing, leaving you fuming in the end? It’s time you try polarized lenses and do away with the pesky glares that cause you irritation once and for all?

Polarized lenses have a special anti reflective coating either inserted in the middle of the lens, or more commonly sealed on the outside of the lens and are usually made from plastic or polycarbonate. This special layer is capable of blocking harmful UV rays from 360 degree angles, unlike regular lenses that only block UV rays coming directly at the lens. These lenses help ward off the glare from sideward, upward and downward angles and provide you with clearer views with great visibility in dim, hazy and super sunny conditions. They really are the best all round lens.

Here's why polarized lenses are so popular these days:

1. While fishing:

How often does it happen that you lose out on that fresh stock of sea life, just because the rays of the sun don’t allow you to concentrate well? The glare during peak hours can be a damper and it makes it tough to look beyond a certain point. Polarized lenses thus take good care of all excessive glares and allows you to see deeper into waters when the glare is reduced, so you can see those big fish.

2. While driving:

Polarized lenses are even worn by those who spend too much time in the sun driving. Thus drivers wearing these lenses don’t feel the strain on their eyes, even after driving for long hours. Often, the reflection of the sun from the back window of the car can be annoying, and you tend to lose your focus while being behind the wheel because of that and other glare reflected off the road and buildings around the car. Polarized lenses take care of that and they also come in handy while you are driving on a wet road and need better concentration.

It should be noted that polarized lenses comes with their own limitations, for example, they do not work on snowy surfaces, as the light is reflected in all directions. So you must not use them while skiing or moving downhill.

And now that you know the reasons why you should pick a pair of polarized lenses, don’t wait any longer. We have a new range of Ultimate Polarized Lenses that our customers rave about, so don't wait to buy a new set of polarized sunglasses, get a pair of brand new custom lenses for your sunglasses at The Sunglass Fix.

Why Wear Yellow Tinted Sunglass Lenses?

Ever wondered why you'd want to wear yellow tinted lenses in your sunglasses?

If you’ve ever worn polarized sunglasses, then you already know just how effective they are at reducing glare.  Likewise, yellow tinted lenses can also work wonders for improving your overall vision.

Those already contemplating lens replacement or scratched sunglasses repair will be happy to hear that choosing colored lenses is easy, quick and can, of course, help improve their vision.  People frequently select yellow tinted lenses due to their ability to absorb both blue as well as ultraviolet light.  Athletes and those who just spend a lot of time outdoors will find that yellow tinted lenses do much to enhance overall vision.

UV Light and Yellow Tinted Lenses

Those who spend a good deal of time outdoors at dusk or dawn will find that yellow tinted lenses can help their vision considerably.  Foggy and overcast conditions likewise help make everything you see brighter and clearer, since yellow lenses absorb blue light and UV light. They're great for fishermen out on the water in the wee hours of the morning or when you're playing your favourite sports at dusk like the owner of The Sunglass Fix, Craig Anderson, playing frisbee at dusk and well into the night every Monday evening.

Yellow tinted lenses have a range of benefits.  However, it should be noted that yellow tinted lenses do not serve to protect the eyes from infrared light.

Cyclist Frequently Choose Yellow Tinted Lenses

Those svelte looking cyclists racing around the Tour de France circut face the full range of  weather conditions and  every type of lighting condition possible.  Cyclists frequently choose yellow tinted lenses for the visual clarity that they provide, not just to look good!

In fact, outdoor athletes of all kinds often opt for polarized sunglasses with yellow tinted lenses, as these lenses offer excellent depth perception, as they filter out blue light.  This, of course, means that the blue in the sky is also filtered out.

Georgia May Jagger has been selected as the new 'Face' of The Sunglass Hut for her great facial lines and edgy, young, look. Madonna recently named her the face of her clothing Material Girl clothing line so she's in hot demand at only 19 years old!

Appears it does help to have good genes such as Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall as parents. The official launch of the new sunglasses campaign is September so we'll be looking at what brand and style of sunglasses the huge fashion brand has her wearing to promote them? Any guesses? Looks like she's wearing the a glam version of the cat-eye sunglasses with her pouty red lips, made famous by her father. Both Prada and Gucci have recently released a new line of cat-eye sunglasses. They're nearly as popular as the Ray-Ban Wayfarer's comeback at the moment.

Do you think she's a good choice for The Sunglass Hut?

National Sun Safety week begins this Sunday so are you prepared for this seasons summer UV Rays? It's that time of year that we're all out and about enjoying the warmth of the sun but it can also be damaging to our eyes if we're not prepared with good quality sunglasses with high rated UV protective lenses.

Statistics show that each year more skin cancers are diagnosed than lung cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer combined, that's over 2 Million per year, a whopping big number for something that is preventable.

Did you know 1 in 5 people will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime? That's why it's so important to set the example for our children by taking all the safety precautions needed to have safe fun in the sun;

1. Wear at least 30+ SPF rated sunscreen, even on cloudy days the UV rays can still penetrate your skin

2. Wear a hat, there are so many great, fashionable options to suit everyone, there are no excuses!

3. Wear the best quality sunglasses you can buy for yourself and your family, with highly rated UV lenses for the best protection, you also want to avoid crows feet at the edge of your eyes.

According to doctors, while skin cancer is the most prolific form of cancer, it is also the most preventable and the most curable when diagnosed at an early stage. Starting young is the key to prevention because the sun burns young people get today can lead to skin cancer and other forms of skin damage tomorrow.

Take this Sun Safety week as a check to make sure you're all up to date with your sunglasses and hats for summer fun. Most people have perfectly good sunglass frames from the previous summer but may have worn the lenses a little and that's where The Sunglass Fix can help. We make sure you have the best quality, UV rated lenses in your sunglasses and can fit replacement lenses into just about any frame with two sunglass lenses. Check out our lens search engine to find your sunglass model. Don't worry if you don't find it we can still custom cut and install lenses into your sunglasses.

What an awesome way to give tribute to the Indy 500 race car champion, Dan Wheldon. The organizers of the 2012 Indianapolis 500 speedway race on Sunday handed out mock ups of Dan's iconic white sunglasses to celebrate his life and passion on the speedway.

Wheldon, the defending race winner and a two-time champ, was killed in the October finale last season, and the entire day was in honor of D-dub, the fallen champ.

Luckily for Dan three of his best friends were nutting it out for the championship and the Scottsman, Dario Franchitti, came out on top taking the title and etching his name next to his buddy Dan's on the trophy.

Just not sure we can replace the sunglass lenses in these tribute shades though!

It's that time of year again when all the stars strut their stuff at the annual Cannes Film Festival held on the French Riviera, arguably one of the world's biggest cinema showcases. Although the US Films didn't do so well this year Brad Pitt certainly made a splash turning up on the red carpet in his mega expensive $1250 Sama Sunglasses. Certainly a great accessory for his black tux that gave off some great reflections in the mirrored sunglass lenses.

Michael Haneke's "Love" (Amour) won the coveted Palme d'Or for best picture, with New Zealand-born Andrew Dominik's "Killing Them Softly", starring Brad Pitt as a mob enforcer in a recession-hit U.S. city, was popular.

Brad proves that the Ray-Ban Aviator style is still hot for this summer and are true legends when it comes to longevity because the last time he was seen sporting them was back in the early 2000's for his movie Moneyball. The lavish aviator-style sunglasses, are made from 100 percent pure titanium and highly mirrored lenses that are vapor coated in pure 18k rose gold. The style, called "Black Onyx," is also available in yellow gold, platinum and kohl.

It’s spring once again and it's fishing season. The sun is rising beautifully by this time, you can marvel at its beauty without having to profusely sweat because of the heat and humidity of summer.

Fish populations are active during spring. But if you’re going fishing, it’s likely that light will be reflected off the water’s surface that can be annoying. That's why specialist polarized sunglasses are essential. Polarised lenses can filter out the light coming from all angels, especially off the waters surface and boats etc. For the fishermen who love their sport it’s frustrating when they can’t see the water or the big fish lurking under the water. Being able to see clearly, even in harsh lighting conditions, means that you’re able to see if you have a fish on your line and wearing polarised sunglass lenses will help even the amateur fisherman catch a big one.

Fishing is all about relaxing but if excess light causes migraines it’s not fun. What you need is a good pair of polarized sunglasses on hand to protect your eyes to be sure you’ll be relaxed your whole fishing trip.

Some popular models of sports fishing glasses are Mako Sleek that fits tightly around the head with full eye coverage to ensure they don’t slip off when leaning over the boat reeling in the big one. Their are Old Harbour Outfitters that take their fishing shades seriously and FishGlitz that are popular for fishing.

So wherever you go this spring to find that perfect fishing hole, or out on the ocean for deep sea fishing don't forget to take care of your eyes by wearing polarized lenses. If you already have a favorite pair of fishing sunglasses that you wear but you don’t have a clean set of lenses, we stock a new line of premium polarized lenses that our customers rave about, check out our facebook page to see what our customers are saying about them.

"They are the best thing since sliced bread. I couldn't be happier. No more looking through scratched sunglasses. Thanks a bunch." Bill Shepard via our Facebook Site

"Ultimate Polarised Lenses for my Arnettes from The Sunglass Fix - affordable, superior quality, so easy to fit, great customer service, free shipping - I wear them when I'm at the beach, out jogging, dirt bike riding, cruising in my R33 - AWESOME LENSES!" Elle Pallant from our Facebook Site.

Thanks to all our great fans who give us a great wrap on our facebook site!

The sweet smell of summer is in the air and it's time to update your sunglasses with the latest style or with brand new lenses, giving them the shine of a brand new pair. But it can be tiresome visiting shop after shop trying on the latest styles.

Not all sunglasses are created equal and depending on the shape of your face, some designs just don’t seem to fit. But now you can shop virtually to find the perfect style or the latest trends like the Ray-Ban Wayfarer that are huge for this summer season and worn by many celebrities like Madonna.

Now shopping for sunglasses has never been easier. Take for example Bloomingdale’s in New York City. Large screens grace their front windows allowing the busy New Yorker to virtually try on sunglasses without even stepping foot in the store. This is done using LCD screens that identify where your eyes are when you look into the screen. Now you can try on the latest styles like Ray-Ban Wayfarer in some funky colors such as violet and cyclamen. You can even turn your head side to side to see from diferent angles how the sunglasses looks on your face.

Virtual shopping doesn’t end on the sidewalk. Many sunglasse online stores now offer virtual viewing by using a picture of yourself or your webcam. They can align digitized versions of their sunglasses to your face so you can check out the latest looks from the comfort of your own home or into the wee hours of the morning when some of us are on shopping sprees!  Now you can get the latest summer looks, or your Ray Ban sunglasses online without ever having to leave your house.

Don't forget once you've invested in your designer sunglasses that we stock a large range of replacement lenses in our online store that fit Ray Ban sunglasses so if if you happen to damage or scratch the lenses of your favorite pair be sure to get new lenses to have them looking brand new again.

With 13,000 lenses that can be fitted into almost any existing frames, The Sunglass Fix claims a true world’s first, with their lens replacement service. Their unique company has just been named one of the start up companies to watch over the next few years.

For Immediate Release

Byron Bay, Australia –  Having steadily built their business from the ground up over the past 26 months to provide the only full service lens replacement company, the panel from the StartupSmart Awards thinks The Sunglass Fix are a company to keep an eye on as they continue to expand their impressive lens replacement business.

The second annual StartupSmart Awards feature many other businesses set for big, or bigger, things, with a top 50 that has a combined revenue of $115.6 million, well ahead of last year’s total of $88 million.

The awards panel were flooded with entries of such high quality they were compelled to compile a list of companies to watch in the coming years. The judging panel said there were some really great ideas out there that were worth recognition.

With many manufactures producing sunglasses with disposability in mind, the team at The Sunglass Fix have developed a unique way to replace the lenses while re-using existing frames.

“With over 300 applicants we’re proud to be named one of the up and coming companies to watch as we continue to grow.  With such an unusual business concept, and starting from scratch, we didn’t have a lot of support among friends and family to begin with. However they’ve all since changed their minds with our back to back Platinum Australia Customer Service Awards, and now this recognition just furthers our drive to continue to be the best business we can be.” Comments Lainie Anderson, Vice President of Marketing for The Sunglass Fix.

Amanda Gome, chief executive of Private Media and founder of StartupSmart, says the companies on the 2012 list “have only known hard times”, so their success should be applauded. “They all started in the GFC, have struggled to find capital to grow and yet they have flourished.” Amanda comments in the March 28th StartupSmart press release

The Sunglass Fix boasts an impressive business with an inventory of over 13,000 lenses to fit almost any type of frame. In order to make lens replacement an attractive proposition, the team has worked diligently with suppliers and manufactures to supply designer-quality lenses at great prices. Coupled with free global shipping, replacing old frames is now becoming a popular alternative to buying new sunglasses.

With an ultimate goal to be able to replace any type of frame ever invented, Lainie and her team are out in force to dominate the bright world of sunglasses.

“Of course, there are still hurdles to be overcome. Our customers are elated to find out that they can actually get their lenses replaced and continually post positive comments on our facebook page or send us emails. Getting the message out there that our products and services exist is perhaps our biggest challenge but one we’re most driven to achieve.” Explains Lainie Anderson.

It’s easy to see why. With advertising and marketing often showcasing the latest sunglass trends and fashions, the idea of replacing lenses in existing frames may not be the first option consumers think of.

“It’s natural to fall into the trap of advertising. However, with frequent new sunglasses remaining an expensive and often reluctant hobby for many, we know that people will be thrilled to learn that they can spend just a fraction of the cost replacing their existing lenses. Australia already loves this new concept, and we’re sure the global sunglass community will love it too” she concludes.

Did you know that Sunglasses can actually save your eyes from stray balls? It's true.

Last week Miguel Cabrera, a professional baseball player for the Detroit Tigers,  had a close call with a ground ball that hit him around his right eye. The force of the impact caused a small fracture to his orbital bone, the bone below his eye. Miguel quickly held his hand up to his eye and as he pulled it away blood could be seen covering his right hand. ""Thank God I have sunglasses on," Cabrera said after he learned the blow to his face from a ground ball Monday had not done more serious damage. "I'm lucky."

The sunglasses Cabrera was wearing saved him from a serious eye injury that could cost him the whole season but instead, only got eight stitches under his right eye and a layoff close to one week.

There are some sports where you cannot wear sunglasses because of the nature of the sport but many enable the use of Sunglasses so it's pays to make sure you've always got your best pair of sunglasses with you when you're stepping onto the sports field. Baseball is one sport where you can wear protective eyewear out on the field, especially when you're out in the sun for long periods of time like when playing Baseball or Cricket.

You don’t really need to wait for something similar to what happened to Miguel Cabrera to say that sunglasses could have saved your life. Don't forget that wearing sunglasses not only protect your eyes but if you're wearing Polarized Lenses they'll also improve your performance because you'll be well protected from the glare of the sun and unnecessary reflections off metal and car surfaces.

If you do have a Miguel Cabrera moment and shatter your sunglass lens, don't worry, we'll be able to get you some new lenses. Be sure to check out our new Ultimate Polarized Sunglasses, they may just be the best lenses you've ever worn.

“From what we’ve reviewed this new model is even larger than the very popular Hijinx and Monster Dogs. It does come with the typical top notch features you’d expect from Oakley including nose pads and ear stems that lock around the face to ensure a really tight fit to avoid falling off when competing. Naturally you can choose from the range of Oakley lenses or you could choose to add lenses from our range of polarized lenses as a back up pair so you’re not left stranded out on the field. We have a range of colors in our polarized lenses to choose from to suit your style.” says Craig Anderson, owner of The Sunglass Fix.

Oakley has solidified themselves as the legends of innovation when it comes to sports sunglasses, being one of the first sunglass businesses to transform sports sunglasses into fashion items. Oakley’s key is it’s continual ability to merge style and function for a high performing piece of fashion that gives competitors that winning edge. It also delivers the health benefit of reducing harmful UV light. All this in one pair of sunglasses!

Also new to the Oakley collection are some collectable Jawbones from the new Max Fearlight range. The Jawbone collection are iconic and worn by world class athletes such as Lance Armstrong, and this years Aussie winner, Cadel Evans amongst other tour de France riders. The Max Fearlight range was released as part of a big advertisement campaign where a futuristic survivor of a solar Armageddon steps out into the blinding UV sunlight wearing Oakley Jawbones.

“The Jawbone series is a great invention by Oakley where each person can customize their sunglasses for their own sporting needs and performance. You’re able to choose from a big range of lenses for varying light conditions. And when you’re out in the elements we all know that it can not only change on a daily basis, but even hourly at times.” Comments Craig Anderson from The Sunglass Fix

The new Jawbones feature the classic Oakley Switchlock Technology that has an interchangeable lens design for any lenses to be popped in and out to suit the conditions.

“Not only can you switch Oakley lenses but you can also put in after market lenses like our premium polarized range. For as little as $38.95 you can have a set of polarized lenses shipped to your door to pop into your Jawbone frame.” Explains Craig Anderson, owner of the online sunglass business.

When pushing yourself to the edge it’s inevitable that you’ll come up with some scratched sunglasses. Lens replacement is a great option to make sure you’ve always got scratch free lens.

“We offer a money back guarantee to ensure the lenses meet the high standards of your originals.
