Do Children Really Need to Wear Sunglasses?
The first few years of life are critically important for the long term health of any child. This applies to your child’s vision as well!
Cheap fashion sunglasses that may be cute or trendy are bad news for any pair of eyes, but they can be particularly dangerous for young ones. This is why you should select sunglasses and sunglasses lenses that are high-quality. Experts have found that sunglasses do more than protect developing eyes from damage that can later lead to cataracts and macular degeneration. Sunglasses and sunglass lenses can help protect the delicate areas around the eyes and this means a reduction in skin cancer risk.
Top manufacturers such as Arnette, Ray-Ban, Smith and Oakley all have very stylish sunglass options for children that provide sunglass lenses which protect against UV rays. There are also many specialist childrens sunglass brands that can be found with a quick internet search.
Spending money on children's sunglasses can seem over the top but you can also protect your investment in sunglasses if they become scratched or damaged by having us replace your lenses. This can save you big both in terms of time and money making them a very worthy investment. You can also easily heat the arms of your child's sunglasses in some very hot water (not boiling) to make them soft and pliable so you can make them fit a growing childs head.

The Best Sports Sunglasses for Skiing
It is wintertime, and I am thrilled because I love hitting the slopes for some skiing. But I am always amazed how many skiers lack good sports sunglasses. In fact, often I see people wearing no sunglasses at all! This is amazing, since most ski resorts have a sunglasses store right on the premises. You would think that would key them in on the fact that wearing sports sunglasses is part of the whole skiing experience and the glare from the snow is seriously damaging to the eyes.
So, ok, fellow skiers, here is what you want to keep in mind...
-First, don't skip durability. This usually means a good pair of polycarbonate lenses for your sports sunglasses. Nothing ruins a skiing trip faster than having your sunglasses break and explode into a million tiny fragments. Crashing with glass lenses, like in Ray-Ban's, would be a big no-no.
-Also don't forget that as you increase in altitude, the issue of UV exposure increases too! So you will need polarized sunglasses with at least 95% UV protection. Polarized sunglasses are also great for reducing glare off of the snow.
-Get sports sunglasses with good peripheral vision. No matter how great of a skier you may be, you want to see those idiots flying by you who may not be looking where they are going!
So keep it safe this skiing season. You can start with a visit to the sunglasses store. And don't forget, if your lenses do get damaged, you can hop right over to our site for a quick pair of replacements!
New Eco-Friendly Bamboo Sunglasses & Quicksilver Recycled Skateboard Shades, Sweet!
I am a big fan of all types of sunglasses and sunglasses optics. However, when I learned about some of these new eco-friendly options out there, I was really amazed.
First of all, I love bamboo! This wood not only looks sleek and sophisticated, it is sustainable and green as well. You can now find bamboo options and they come with the same level of quality and polarized lenses.
I also freaked out when I learned about the recycled goods that are being made into sunglasses. These materials go way beyond plastic and include everything from recycled beer bottles to whiskey containers. And the sunglasses optics are first rate as well. One of my favorites sunglasses USA companies is the Diamond Supply Co, which makes their sunglasses out of recycled skateboards! Juicy Couture is even out there making eyewear out of plant-based plastics.
More and more people want eco-friendly sunglasses, but they also expect to have top-notch polarized lenses and sunglasses optics. This new breed of company delivers!
Of course, if you really want to be eco-friendly, don't throw your sunglasses away if the lenses become scratched or damaged. Otherwise, they will just live out the rest of their days in a landfill somewhere! Instead, pop over to our shop and simply order some new polarized lenses. We have you and your needs covered. We'll help reduce your carbon footprint and make us all happy :)

Gigantic Foam Sunglasses at the FYF Fest in Downtown LA
We love these monster sized Foam Sunglasses that were part of the art installations at this years FYF Fest in downtown Los Angeles that came alive with a some edgy underground musicians in today’s music scene ranging in musical genres from punk rock to new-age funk. Aaron Hansen is showing sitting in front of these huge shades giving you an idea of the sheer size of them, a little hard to pop on your face!
Three of the four art pieces were a huge six-and-a-half feet tall, 15 ft .wide and 18 ft. long. They were solid foam sunglasses, each with a different mural painted across the lenses. The back of the sunglasses were covered in special chalk board paint. Concert-goers used chalk to add to the design, a ceative way to get them invovled in the art work and help steer the mood of the concert.
As much as we love this art installation we're not sure we'll be able to install new lenses into these babies any time soon.......
Lizzie Loses Her Lucky Oakley Sunglasses at the 2012 Summer Olympics
What Happens if You Lose Your Lucky Sports Sunglasses During the Olympics?
As you might imagine, each time the Olympics roll around, outdoor athletes get out their best sports sunglasses. An excellent pair of polarized sunglasses can make the difference between successfully representing one's country and failure. Olympic athletes sometimes spend their entire lifetimes getting ready, and so success is imperative. Anything that can give them the edge can mean the world to them.
This year, one British professional cyclist named Lizzie Armistead
was horrified when she accidentally lost her Oakley sports sunglasses. Believe it or not, the police were contacted on her behalf. They sent out a message on their Twitter feed begging onlookers to turn in her Oakleys if they happened to find them. Part of the reason for all the drama is that these were Armistead's "lucky sunglasses."
If you have ever had a pair of lucky sunglasses, you can probably relate to how miserable you might be if they were lost. Of course, if you contacted the police, they would be likely to laugh a bit and point you in the direction of the closest sunglasses store!
Our clients have been happy to learn that we can provide high-end aftermarket Oakley lenses for a very reasonable price. While we may not be able to help you if you lose your glasses, if you accidentally scratch of damage the lenses, we can quickly send out some replacements. This is a good way to allow your good luck to continue!
What's all the fuss about polarized lenses?
Are you wondering what all the fuss is around wearing Polarized lenses? Are you constantly perturbed by excess sun glare? Do you suffer from lack of concentration while driving or fishing, leaving you fuming in the end? It’s time you try polarized lenses and do away with the pesky glares that cause you irritation once and for all?
Polarized lenses have a special anti reflective coating either inserted in the middle of the lens, or more commonly sealed on the outside of the lens and are usually made from plastic or polycarbonate. This special layer is capable of blocking harmful UV rays from 360 degree angles, unlike regular lenses that only block UV rays coming directly at the lens. These lenses help ward off the glare from sideward, upward and downward angles and provide you with clearer views with great visibility in dim, hazy and super sunny conditions. They really are the best all round lens.
Here's why polarized lenses are so popular these days:
1. While fishing:
How often does it happen that you lose out on that fresh stock of sea life, just because the rays of the sun don’t allow you to concentrate well? The glare during peak hours can be a damper and it makes it tough to look beyond a certain point. Polarized lenses thus take good care of all excessive glares and allows you to see deeper into waters when the glare is reduced, so you can see those big fish.
2. While driving:
Polarized lenses are even worn by those who spend too much time in the sun driving. Thus drivers wearing these lenses don’t feel the strain on their eyes, even after driving for long hours. Often, the reflection of the sun from the back window of the car can be annoying, and you tend to lose your focus while being behind the wheel because of that and other glare reflected off the road and buildings around the car. Polarized lenses take care of that and they also come in handy while you are driving on a wet road and need better concentration.
It should be noted that polarized lenses comes with their own limitations, for example, they do not work on snowy surfaces, as the light is reflected in all directions. So you must not use them while skiing or moving downhill.
And now that you know the reasons why you should pick a pair of polarized lenses, don’t wait any longer. We have a new range of Ultimate Polarized Lenses that our customers rave about, so don't wait to buy a new set of polarized sunglasses, get a pair of brand new custom lenses for your sunglasses at The Sunglass Fix.

Why Wear Yellow Tinted Sunglass Lenses?
Ever wondered why you'd want to wear yellow tinted lenses in your sunglasses?
If you’ve ever worn polarized sunglasses, then you already know just how effective they are at reducing glare. Likewise, yellow tinted lenses can also work wonders for improving your overall vision.
Those already contemplating lens replacement or scratched sunglasses repair will be happy to hear that choosing colored lenses is easy, quick and can, of course, help improve their vision. People frequently select yellow tinted lenses due to their ability to absorb both blue as well as ultraviolet light. Athletes and those who just spend a lot of time outdoors will find that yellow tinted lenses do much to enhance overall vision.
UV Light and Yellow Tinted Lenses
Those who spend a good deal of time outdoors at dusk or dawn will find that yellow tinted lenses can help their vision considerably. Foggy and overcast conditions likewise help make everything you see brighter and clearer, since yellow lenses absorb blue light and UV light. They're great for fishermen out on the water in the wee hours of the morning or when you're playing your favourite sports at dusk like the owner of The Sunglass Fix, Craig Anderson, playing frisbee at dusk and well into the night every Monday evening.
Yellow tinted lenses have a range of benefits. However, it should be noted that yellow tinted lenses do not serve to protect the eyes from infrared light.
Cyclist Frequently Choose Yellow Tinted Lenses
Those svelte looking cyclists racing around the Tour de France circut face the full range of weather conditions and every type of lighting condition possible. Cyclists frequently choose yellow tinted lenses for the visual clarity that they provide, not just to look good!
In fact, outdoor athletes of all kinds often opt for polarized sunglasses with yellow tinted lenses, as these lenses offer excellent depth perception, as they filter out blue light. This, of course, means that the blue in the sky is also filtered out.
