Quality Aspects of The Sunglass Fix's Replacement Lenses

    • They Perform: All our lenses are crafted from optically superb polycarbonate material and are coated to give glass like optical clarity. Our SFx lenses are 60% lighter than glass and are much stronger. All our SFx polarised lenses and silver mirrored lenses have a Super Hydrophobic coating that makes cleaning and repelling water during strenuous activities a breeze. They stay clear so you can perform.
    • Safety: All of our lenses meet AS/NZS 1067:2003 and all other known regional quality and safety standards. They provide 100% UV protection so you know your eyes are being protected. The SFx Polycarbonate (PC Polarised and High Clarity) lenses are made from the same primary material used in bulletproof glass and safety goggles making the lenses virtually shatter proof. Our Ultimate lenses are some of the safest lenses on the market. However, they fall just short of the Industrial Safety standards required for safety glasses. Please note, frames also play a big factor in safety glasses. Safety lenses in fragile frames can make good sunglasses but may not provide safety required at the workplace.
    • Durability: All our lenses have undergone industry standard steel wool abrasion testing and rank between 600-800% higher than competitors retailing for well over $200 in the shops. While polycarbonate lenses still lag behind glass lenses in scratch protection, they do not break and will last for years if taken care of.
    • Value for our customers and the Environment: We strive to offer the best products at a fair price in the most convenient manner. This allows our customers to get new lenses while saving money and helping the environment. With over a billion pairs of sunglasses being sold every year, it's time to change the way we live and reuse perfectly good sunglass frames.
    • Colours and Choices: Get the lenses you want, not the ones that came with your sunglasses. We can fit most sunglasses with a choice of 10 different lenses.

In some countries they are used as night driving lenses to help block out bright city and oncoming headlights.
They are also great for the work shop and yard work where you need to be able to see in lower light conditions but also are in the sun. Lens Types

    Polarized Lenses

Polarized lenses have a polarization film built into them. These films act as millions of microscopic mirrors that reflect light that comes from the top and bottom of the lens. This prevents glare reflections from roads, snow and water hitting your eyes. Our lenses are made from one of the best performing Japanese polarization films which is rated at a 99.9% efficacy rate.
Polarized lenses are found in many sports brands and are uncommon in fashion eye-wear. However, many of our customers opt to upgrade to a polarized lens in fashion eye-wear for the added glare protection and soothing performance they deliver.
Additionally, many migraine sufferers find that polarized lenses work well as reducing the onset of migraine headaches.

    Poly Carbonate Lenses (PC)

Our SFx High Clarity and PC Polarized lenses are made from Polycarbonate.
Polycarbonate lenses is one of the most common sunglasses lenses found on the market. Most fashion and sports sunglasses use this medium in their lenses. It is a very safe lens and is the only lens to be used for safety glasses.
It's optical properties are not as good as glass or our Ultimate lenses and they can slightly distort or magnify things. However, this is subtle and most users do not notice it. However, if you have sensitive eyes you will be better off with our Ultimate lenses.

    SFx Ultimate Lenses

Our Ultimate Lenses are made from polyamide. This material has similar optical properties as glass lenses. However, they are 1/3 the weight of glass and are significantly safer as they do not break. They last longer than most polycarbonate lenses and provide clearer vision. Polyamide lenses are found in some of the top models from high end sport manufacturers. While most use polycarbonate for the mid range sunglasses they will put Polyamide in their top of the line models.
Ultimate lenses can not be used as safety lenses. They can withstand a steel ball traveling at 120 feet per second. Safety requirements demand 150 feet per second which is what polycarbonate, the most common safety lens, can withstand.
