Fitting instructions for metal sunglass frames

Fitting replacement lenses in metal sunglass frames generally falls into three categories:

1. Frames with screws that loosen the frame so the lenses can be removed and replaced.

2. Frames without screws. For these, follow the plastic-frame fitting instructions, as the fitting method is similar.

3. Clip-in metal frames. Follow the instructions below.

Fitting guide: frames with screws

Step 1:

Locate the screws, usually on the underside of the frame. Check whether you need a flat-head or Phillips screwdriver.

Step 2:

Loosen the screw by a few turns without removing it completely. Apply gentle pressure to the back of the lens until it releases from the frame.

Step 3:

Hold the sunglasses with the front facing you. Align each new lens with the frame and press it into position from the front.

Step 4:

Once both lenses are in place, tighten the screw. Apply light pressure to each lens to check that it is securely fitted, then clean the lenses with a soft cloth.

Fitting guide: clip-in frames

Step 1:

Clip-in metal frames can flex slightly while the lenses are being removed without losing their shape. Hold the sunglasses with the front facing you and place your thumb near the nose bridge.

Step 2:

Place your thumb in the centre of the first lens and gently pull the inner edge down until the lens releases. Repeat with the second lens.

Step 3:

Align the outside edge of the new lens with the frame and insert it into the groove. Once it is correctly positioned, press the opposite side into place.

Step 4:

Gently pull down on the lens to check that it is secure. Clean both lenses with a soft cloth.
