Sunglass lens care

A quick clean keeps the lenses clear, and putting the frames down the right way keeps them from getting scratched.

Cleaning Your Lenses

1. Clean Them Daily

Give your lenses a careful wipe every time you put them on. It's one of the simplest ways to keep them clean and performing well. Start by gently blowing away any loose dust or dirt before wiping them.

2. Use a microfibre cloth

If possible, use the microfibre cloth or pouch supplied with your sunglasses, or the one we provide. A clean, soft cloth is also suitable. Avoid paper towels or tissues, as they can scratch the lenses.

3. Warm Soapy Water

For heavier smudges, you can use a lens cleaner or spray, but warm soapy water is usually enough. Washing-up liquid works well. Check that it has no added moisturiser.

Protecting your sunglasses

1. Use Your Case

Lenses are generally scratch-resistant, but they are not scratch-proof. Keeping them in their case or pouch when you're not wearing them is one of the simplest ways to prevent damage.

2. Lenses facing up

Most scratches happen when you put the sunglasses down, not while you are wearing them. Fold the arms and rest the frames on them, with the lenses facing up.

3. Check the Screws

If your sunglasses have screws, check them occasionally with an optical screwdriver to make sure they are secure. The arms should open smoothly but should not swing open under their own weight.

If your lenses are too scratched or damaged for cleaning and care to help, don't throw away your favourite sunglasses. A new pair of replacement lenses can give the frames another life.
